Times Tables for kids are really important. Learning the multiplication facts in KS1 can really aid the understanding and ability to solve multiplication word problems in KS2. Learning the times table is an essential skill for any primary school aged student.

There are different mathematical operations that kids learn once they are able to, whether at home or else in school, these include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and with every single one of these operations, there are specific methods and techniques used to help in teaching kids and making it all appear easier for them.

When it comes to multiplication, the basic multiplication method is using the times tables, which kids learn in school in different ways without memorizing any of them, because the more they memorize without understanding, the more it will turn out to be a difficult thing for them to remember at the end (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r6IN-h9d-I).

In addition to the basic multiplication method that is used and followed, there are other more creative ways which parents could depend on after explaining to their kids what is multiplication and what is the idea carried behind it; there is the number line method on which the kids could count in order to solve the mathematical equation they are asked to answer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v0AjM0jcPA).

The list of methods could keep going, it will always depend on the one a parent thinks is the best for his/her child or at least the one the kid showed more interest in. Lego pieces are also widely used by parents to help in teaching kids multiplication since it also gives them the chance to count easily and get the final answer without having to do it all in their heads (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPW1bmLTFdA).

The most famous method used with multiplication is the grid method and this is also the easiest because it could handle all the different numbers, big and small, and thus parents at home and teachers at school could always go back to it if they find the number hard for the kid to deal with while playing with any of the other games or options (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3duqrhE8Xw).

For every number out there, there is a timetable and in this video the focus is on number 10. 10 is from the easiest time tables that are found out there and this goes back to the fact that multiplying 10 by any number out there will always be about adding a zero to the number being multiplied by 10. For example, 4 x 10 = 40, 1 x 10 = 10, etc.

It is believed that the even numbers are always easier when it comes to multiplication and not like the odd numbers which might need a little bit more of thinking and different other techniques to be considered. The small numbers are usually the easiest, such as two times table (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tzjlp9UipEg) and four times table (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZbNl0RutB0) and when the numbers keep getting bigger, it might all start to get harder but they will always be solved, such as number seven times table for example (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRXskRkWkQ4) and number nine times table (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA9UdpBgq4w).

Times tables are always known in the regular ways which is the times tables related to every single number, but there is one technique which Michelle have tried and came up with and which is writing down the numbers from 1 to 100 in a table and then letting the kids count on it according to the number they are learning its multiplication times table (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKom4XkX7-8).

It is important to ask your kids some questions about the timetable you have just gone through with them to know whether they have got it all or still need a little bit of training.

Let them watch this video, give them the chance to learn the multiplication times table of number 10 and then wait for the end of it to ask them the questions we have also attached to the video.

Enjoy watching the video along with your kids and let us know about your feedback; was it effective and informative? Let us know more :-)!
