Math could be taught to the kids through several practical ways and these practical ways are all about the mental games that would sound effective and have their success on the kids. In this educational video, Michelle is teaching kids addition through using easy tools and games.

Addition is usually the initial steps that kids take in the ladder of learning math and even though adults will always see it as the easiest, kids might still have some difficulties in them - after all their minds are still not used to solving mathematical equations (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2BVO76JujQ).

The first technique Michelle used with Aaron in playing mathematical games and teaching him how to add was with using the method of number line. The method of number line is counting the numbers and solving the equation by jumping on that line (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn2YBpCIzis).

Sometimes kids know how to add but they might not be very good when it comes to translating the shapes or words into real written numbers, so always test this thing in your kid. After Aaron brought the final result for the two equations and questions that Michelle gave, she then asked him to translate the shapes into real written numbers - so always know that they could count and that they could also write numbers down (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5HSmzhC5nw).

The second game related to addition for kids was the one with the building blocks. Choosing the toys and tools around the house which your kid love to play with in general will always be the best way to teach them at home as part of the homeschooling journey. To teach your kid addition, you could ask them to answer an equation you have given verbally but with using the building blocks, the only thing they will write down is the plus and equal signs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSMd8kMHIHo).

There are different games to play in order to teach the kids addition and all of them could be even played with the same tools. With using a small white board that one could write and erase easily, Michelle was making equations for Aaron to solve in the form of shapes which he should count, transfer into actual numbers and them write down the answer that he would bring at the end (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWE2AzEsgU4).

There is also the option of the magnetic numbers which could be used to let the kids first build up their own number sentence through making the whole equation without being asked a specific question. This is easy because you will make your kid think about the numbers that when added together will bring a specific number and know how to do the whole thing, how to make the plus sign, the equal sign and put the answer.

The last thing or game which Michelle came up with for learning addition was the one with the number cards that could be easily done at home which you could also use to make number lines and equations and maybe let the kid choose the number that is supposed to be the final answer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk9wxO2tZA0).

Always make sure to choose the right games and tools that would always keep the kids interested and more willing to learn math and know more about the mathematical vocabulary such as the plus, the minus, the equal, etc.

Always take part in the math games you are playing with your kids in the process of homeschooling them because you will give them the chance to know how to ask questions and at the same time give them the chance to know specific numbers and know the answers that will come out from that specific equation. This is also important because you will know whether your kid really knows the answer or not and even trick them with giving wrong answer to see whether they will correct you or will not pay attention.

Building blocks is the first option for teaching addition for kids, but there is also the option of using play doh (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw91epryD28), there is the option of using Lego (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdlIHYRnjAg) and there is the option of using their favorite tiny cartoon characters.
