Are you searching for fraction activities for your kids? Here is one which we are going to share with you in this educational video tutorial that needs nothing more than paper plates, scissors, and some colors.

What are fractions? A fraction is known to represent a part of a whole or any number of equal parts. When the word 'fraction' is used in the English language, it is usually used to describe how many parts of a certain there are, such as one half, eight fifths, three quarters, etc.

In order to talk about fractions and explore them with your children, you should get an exciting and easy resource for that, and that's where the activity we are going to show you is all about. This is a very simple activity or resource to depend on, all you will need is a paper plate, some colors (pencils, crayons or any other thing you might want), and finally scissors.

This is very easy and fun activity which you will need to involve your kids into - they are the ones who should be creating their pizza, cake, or whatever they need and the ones decorating it, you could just help them get things done.

When you are doing this kind of activity with your kids, make sure to talk with them through the whole thing of halves, sharing and equality, and also put the pieces back together in order to give them the chance to understand the whole idea behind fractions and halves.

This is a good activity for your kids in general because they are not only going to understand what fractions are, but they will also get an idea about bigger, smaller, equal and such mathematical language which they will get to learn along the journey.

Another important thing to keep in mind while teaching your kids more about fractions is to ask them questions, ask how they could bring the pizza into whole once again, how many quarters make a half, and let them answer and show you that through the jigsaw puzzle they will be playing with when it comes to the pizza paper plate.

You could always get a little bit further with your kids and teach them more than just the halves, but you could even teach them more about the thirds, sixths, eights, whatever you want and whatever you feel that your kids will actually grasp it all.

We have tried this fraction activity with James - who loved creating his own pizza - and we even realized that sometimes kids might be viewing things differently than the way we do and sometimes you might think that they don't know lots of things when in fact they do and they could even explain it differently to you (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC9mOGuNOU4).

It is really a fun way to teach kids fractions through such activities in which they are not only going to learn mathematical numbers and definitions, but they will also manage bringing their artistic side out through creating the pizza or the cake by choosing the colors, decorating the cake, cutting the thing out correctly, etc.

There are different educational video tutorials on our channel which you could check and which are related to math and numbers, and which are all taught in different ways and through using different tools. One of the examples is teaching kids more about fractions through using Lego blocks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttZ6eRqLbn0).

And you could also come to our channel for the several other lessons that include learning more about addition (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWqcfMNRNLU), division (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvh9C4TbxwM), subtraction (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsQHpE6D6PQ) and multiplication (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvJRIK60idA).

Let's hope that your kids find this fraction activity simple, interesting and easy, and understand more about what fractions are in the world of math.
