Dress like a Chinese noble woman, 2,000 years ago! Mawangdui Treasures Coming to Shanghai

The exhibition will bring together 195 sets of relics, or 472 individual objects. Among them are three treasures prohibited from overseas exhibition. Alongside the silk paintings are an early lacquer cosmetic box and a fragment of the silk manuscript version of the “Book of Changes”.

While the title of the exhibition is “A House of Nobility”, it is not simply about the wealth of a Han Dynasty aristocratic family. Through patterns, household objects and philosophical texts, it explores how people understood daily life, social order and their place in the universe.
