Netanyahu is walking a fine line to avoid p ssing off Trump

ASPI Middle East Expert Dr Adel Abdel Ghafar says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently “walking a fine line” trying to balance Israel’s foreign policy while maintaining his relationship with US President Donald Trump.

Dr Ghafar emphasised how Israel does not want Lebanon to be part of America’s peace deal with Iran.

He claimed Mr Netanyahu does not want to “p*ss* off” President Trump but needs to “advocate for Israeli interests”.

Dr Ghafar told Sky News Australia, being an election year, additional pressure is placed on Israel’s prime minister.

He noted Mr Netanyahu’s opponents are likely to use Trump’s peace deal as a political tool against him.
