The rain-calling ceremony is the most important ritual performed by the Ptao Apui. The Jrai people in the area influenced by the Ptao Apui believe that the sacred sword is the intermediary, and that the Ptao Apui is the only one who can communicate with the spirits to summon rain to irrigate their fields.
