Mihonoseki is a quiet port town located at the eastern tip of the Shimane Peninsula in Japan.

Early in the morning,
I walked through Mihonoseki before any tourists arrived.

The first place I visited was Miho Shrine, known as the head shrine of Ebisu, the god of good fortune.
In the quiet shrine grounds, the sound of a taiko drum echoed through the air.
It is played every morning at 8:30.

The sound felt like a signal announcing the beginning of the day in this small port town.
This video is a quiet morning walk, capturing the slow start of a new day in Mihonoseki.
