Double Seal Rescue: Tied Together by Dangerous Fishing Net

Double Seal Rescue: Tied Together by Dangerous Fishing Net

l
life of sea creatures

With over 5,000 seal rescues under our belt, the Ocean Conservation Namibia team has seen almost everything. But this specific entanglement left us completely speechless. Two seals were severely entangled and literally tied together by a mix of gill net and heavy rope. Every time they tried to break free, they ended up pulling against each other, strangling and hurting one another in a desperate attempt to escape. We rarely find double entanglements like this because, tragically, most of these animals never make it back to shore. Trapped together in the ocean, they cannot coordinate an escape to the beach. They drown, suffocate, or starve out at sea, joining the millions of other marine animals who aren't lucky enough to be found by our rescue team. Please remember these shocking images the next time you order seafood. Ghost nets and discarded fishing gear are a silent killer. 🦭 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Please visit our website to find out more about our work and how to support us: ➡ Website: https://www.ocnamibia.org/ ➡ Donate via Paypal: https://ow.ly/BTm550PIavq ➡ Donate via Stripe: https://ow.ly/Xy1F50PIMzQ ➡ Support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/OCN ➡ FAQs: https://www.ocnamibia.org/faqs Follow us on social media: ➡ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oceanconservationnamibia/ ➡ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OCNamibia ➡ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@oc_namibia ➡ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/ocnamibia/ ➡ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ocnamibia 😊 Thank you for every like, share, comment and subscribe 😊 Ocean Conservation International is registered as a non-profit organisation under chapter 501(c)3.
