We took on a massive DIY Spanish house renovation project to build a safe place for our family to sleep—but time was completely against us!

Our son and his fiancé are flying out with us on our next trip in February. The problem? The bed is in a dangerous position in the loft and there's no way to make it safe, so unless we complete this renovation, one of us will be forced to sleep there.

Our goal is to completely replace the structural loft floor and bedroom ceiling so everyone can sleep safely. We arrived in October with just over a week in October to get this done, but as well as the lack of time, as there was only one of us doing the heavy lifting, we had to find and use building materials that locals don't normally use!

Doing a structural renovation in a foreign country is never simple, even if you speak the language!

Did we manage to pull off this massive DIY project in time, or did we have to leave it unfinished like some of our past projects?
