This Wasn’t the Flight We Planned…

Today’s flight was anything but routine.
We depart Scottsdale, Arizona, bound for El Paso, Texas in the DA50RG - but right from the start, weather becomes the main character. After copying what might be the longest IFR clearance I’ve ever received, we taxi and launch into a day filled with thunderstorms, constant deviations, and real-time decision making.
From climb-out to cruise, we spend the entire flight navigating weather, working closely with ATC, and threading our way around storms. Along the way, we’re rewarded with some unreal views - rainbows cutting through the rain, dramatic cloud layers, and the kind of scenery that reminds you why flying is so special.
As we arrive into El Paso, Naomy flies her first-ever landing in the DA50RG, wrapping up a demanding IFR day on a high note. With Fort Worth still dealing with severe weather, we make the call to end the day early—another reminder that good flying is about patience and smart decisions, not just getting there.
