In today’s episode of The Archers (27th May 2026), the village of Ambridge is reeling from Brian Aldridge’s decision to dismantle the family partnership.
At The Bull, a defiant Brian describes his decision to withdraw his land as a "bid for freedom" rather than a punishment, claiming he is tired of being treated like he belongs in a care home. However, Lillian doesn't hold back, sparking a "Barney" by telling Brian that his late wife, Jennifer, would be "horrified" by his actions, especially with what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary approaching this Friday.
Meanwhile, Alice confronts her father in the beer garden, calling his behaviour "wildly illogical". In a softer moment, Anna and Tracy bond over the "insanity" and burnout of caring for ageing parents, while Carol and Linda reflect on the painful loss of independence and the sting of being treated as a burden.
