I made a video showing how to paint koi fish in Color Sumi-e.

Koi may look simple, but they are actually quite difficult to paint.
Painting them in monochrome ink using the three-tone ink technique can be surprisingly challenging.

This video introduces an approach for those moments when you want to paint something that looks nice fairly quickly.

The method is to start by painting the scales using ryō-guma.
