Transcendence Showcase 2023 - Song of the Lotus

The group dance "Lotus Drum Song" draws inspiration from the poem "Picking Lotus" by Li Qi, a poet of the Tang Dynasty. It incorporates elements of the "Water Town Flower Drum" tradition of Zhejiang, artistically processing the drums, songs, and lotus pickers to embody the characteristics of Jiangnan's "lotus culture." It seeks the classical connotations of the Tang Dynasty poetry route in eastern Zhejiang, pursuing the unique flavor of Zhejiang, depicting the beautiful scenery of lotus picking, and portraying a lively scene of lotus pickers in the Jiangnan water towns. Created against the backdrop of "Poetic Zhejiang," the dance integrates the ancient Chinese ritual of "releasing river lanterns" into the "Xiangji Dance" of the ancient Wu and Yue regions.
