When Compassion is Banned by the State | #falungong #forcedorganharvesting #china #stoppersecutionfalungong #falundafahao
For about seven years, beginning in 2012, we had many Chinese tourists come to San Diego. Falun Dafa practitioners set up information tables at popular tourist spots to explain the facts about the Chinese Communist Party’s brutal persecution to the tourists and to encouraged them to quit from the CCP.
I also participated in this effort. Most of the tourists came in tour groups by bus. They would generally stop for lunch at a couple of Chinese buffet-style restaurants. So I decided to wait for them in the restaurant parking lot and offer them copies of the Chinese language Epoch Times and other materials about Falun Dafa, which is also known as Falun Gong.
Allegations of state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners surfaced shortly after the persecution began in 1999. Chinese hospitals started to advertise organ transplant waiting times of 1 to 4 weeks. This was tremendously shocking to me. How could human beings do such a terrible thing?
In 2006, David Kilgour, a former Canadian member of parliament and Secretary of State and David Matas, a Canadian human rights lawyer, published their investigation report and book Bloody Harvest, which stated: “We have come to the regrettable conclusion that the allegations are true. We believe that there has been and continues today to be large scale organ seizures from unwilling Falun Gong practitioners.”
Of the thousands of touching encounters I had with the Chinese tourists, one stood out and has lingered in my mind. It was a busload of university students, all males. After they had eaten, they stood around in the parking lot. I offered papers and flyers to them, but they refused, asking how much I got paid.
I told them: “I don’t get paid for doing this. I am a Falun Gong practitioner, we all do this because our fellow practitioners in China suffer under the persecution, and you should all know about this, what your government, the CCP is doing to them. Falun Gong practitioners are all good people. We follow truthfulness, compassion, tolerance. The CCP is torturing and killing these kind and innocent practitioners. They are cutting them open while they still alive and take out their organs to sell to rich people from all over the world who travel to China for organ transplants. These are your Chinese people, your brothers and sisters, and aunties. I am German, we had the evil Hitler in our country who killed 6 million Jewish people. The German people didn’t believe it, but it was true, and eventually the evildoers were all brought to justice. Now I am telling you this about the CCP. Don’t you care what they do to your own people?”
They were all quiet. Then one of them said: “We are not allowed to care.”
I was really shocked by his admission and didn’t expect that answer at all.
I said to him, “Wow! You really touched my heart! Thank you, I understand.”
Suddenly, the whole group relaxed. They smiled and came closer, holding out their hands to get papers and flyers. It was such a good feeling to see that they trusted me to speak the truth, to help them and empower them. When they went to their bus, some turned and waved.
It was obvious that they had not lost their conscience, and they did care about what is happening to their fellow citizens in China. But they felt too afraid of this brutal regime and hopeless to do anything about it. If they defended Falun Gong practitioners in China, then they too might be persecuted, be expelled from college, find no employment. They might be sent to a labor camp, get tortured or even lose their lives.
We must help the Chinese people; they have suffered so much.
