HERD's Limpopo Research Centre | Elephant Dung Analysis
Elephants communicate through deep, low-frequency vibrations that travel for kilometres, carrying messages that keep their families connected. With this campaign, we turn that idea into collective action.
Each echo is a symbolic donation that becomes part of a permanent Echo Wall inside the Limpopo Research Centre. One thousand metal plates will form a soundwave spelling Limpopo’s name, with each plate carrying the name of someone who chose to stand with elephants.
Together, these echoes will help us raise R4.5 million to establish a dedicated research centre focused on elephant stress, behaviour, and wellbeing through ethical, non-invasive science. The research centre will allow researchers to analyse the hormones in dung samples and combine these findings with behavioural and environmental data to better understand the well-being of the elephants in our care.
