The Otter, The Beaver & Reconciliation - Redevelopment project of Parliamentary Precinct | Pomerleau
Discover the story behind a meaningful work of art created for one of Canada’s most significant redevelopment projects and how Indigenous art, sustainable construction, and heritage architecture come together in the Block 2 redevelopment of Canada’s Parliamentary Precinct.
In January 2024, Pomerleau was awarded the Construction Management contract for the first phase of the Block 2 redevelopment in Ottawa. Located just south of Parliament Hill, this landmark project brings together historic buildings, modern sustainable design, and Indigenous principles to shape a more inclusive and forward-looking civic space.
As part of this vision, Anishinabe artist Simon Brascoupe was invited to create a powerful artwork that honours the land and reflects the spirit of collaboration behind the project. His painting represents reconciliation, trust, and partnership between communities.
