Rising from the desert at the edge of Cairo, the pyramids of Giza were built during the height of Ancient Egypt. The largest of them — the Great Pyramid — was constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu using more than two million massive stone blocks.

With no modern machines, no steel cranes, and no engines, ancient Egyptian builders created monuments that still dominate the landscape today.
