This Baby Elephant Loved a Rock… Until They Found Out Why

Every morning before sunrise, a baby elephant would walk alone across the sanctuary and press her head gently against the same weathered rock, standing perfectly still for minutes at a time as if she were listening to something no one else could hear. The keepers tried everything to distract her — toys, water, other elephants — but she always returned to that exact spot, at the exact same hour, with the same quiet determination.
What they didn’t understand was that this wasn’t behavior… it was need.
