Rep Santucci: H.R. 8422 - Expressing Condolences on the Passing of Bernard W. George (41426)

On April 14, 2026, Representative Paul Santucci (R District 53 - Smithfield, Glocester) introduced a resolution on the House floor honoring the life and enduring legacy of Bernard "Bernie" George, who passed away on Easter Sunday at the age of 83. Rep. Santucci highlighted Mr. George’s remarkable 28-year military career across the Army and Navy, his deep faith as an Extraordinary Minister at Sts. John and Paul Parish in Coventry, and his unparalleled 54-year dedication to the Boy Scouts of America.

Welcoming Mr. George's son, Todd, and daughter-in-law, Kim, to the chamber, Rep. Santucci shared fond personal memories of golfing with Bernie and his famous love for lemon danish from Borelli's Bakery. The resolution was left on the desk for additional signatures from House members wishing to pay their respects to a true community giant.
