Just a sleeper train from London, Edinburgh is city where history is layered into the architecture, where the hospitality is second to none, and a place that truly punches above its weight when it comes to food.

In this video, I'm sharing how we spent three days exploring Scotland's capital — from hidden neighbourhood gems to iconic viewpoints and some of the best-value dining in the city.

We start in Stockbridge with pastries from Lannan Bakery, browse independent shops, and experience a whisky and chocolate pairing at Johnnie Walker with panoramic Edinburgh views.

Over the next two days, we climb Calton Hill for city views, make our own Harris Tweed bag at a traditional craft workshop, and discover incredible set lunches at Stockbridge Eating House and The Palmerston. We also visit Dean Village, go vintage shopping on Victoria Street, and catch that iconic Edinburgh Castle view from Vennel Steps.

Wrapping up the trip on The Caledonian Sleeper overnight train (press invite) back to London — I'm sharing what the room is really like and whether it's worth adding to your Scotland itinerary.

Whether you're planning your first Edinburgh trip or returning to explore beyond the Royal Mile, I hope this gives you plenty of inspiration.
