In November of 2018, I visited India for the second time to explore the incredible food and fascinating culture of the subcontinent. I landed in Mumbai around midnight and met up with my friend Sam from Samuel & Audrey.

We immediately hit the ground running with some unforgettable late night street food at Bademiya Restaurant with fellow food vlogger Priyanka Tiwari before we drove to the city of Pune a few hours later. Here’s a rundown of the delectable Indian dishes we tried!

1. Chicken Seekh Kebabs

These incredible, grilled chicken kebabs were tender, spicy, and juicy and with the very first bite, reminded me just how much I’ve missed Indian food! This dish is made with minced chicken along with spices such as chili flakes, ginger, garlic, coriander, cumin, garam masala, and onion paste. It was so flavorful!

2. Chicken Tandoori

The next thing we tried was chicken tandoori, a popular Indian staple where the chicken is marinated in a mixture of dahi (yogurt) and tandoori masala, which is a mixture of several different spices. The chicken’s signature red coloring comes from cayenne powder, red chili powder, and turmeric that is then added before it cooks in a clay oven called a tandoor. The chicken was so fresh and smoky, and had a slight charcoal taste, and I loved it!

3. Chicken Tikka

This chicken dish is essentially a boneless version of chicken tandoori, as it’s marinated in a very similar way. The chicken tikka Sam and I had was not too hot, but full of spices and mouthwatering flavor.

4. Paneer Bhurji

Next up was a rich and spicy paneer bhurji, a dish that’s made with an un-aged, non-melting cottage cheese called paneer; ingredients like tomatoes, onion, garlic, and green chilies; and served with flatbread. It wasn’t too spicy, but the green chilies definitely give it a nice kick!

I hope you enjoyed this quick late-night street food tour at Mumbai’s Bademiya Restaurant! If you did please give this video a thumbs up, leave a comment and subscribe to my channel for more awesome travel and food content!
