As my adventures through Dubai continued, I linked up famed Indian beauty expert and makeup artist Swati Verma to enjoythe most indulgent biryani in the world! Join me as I eat the world’s most expensive biryani with Swati Verma in Dubai, UAE!

Swati is a bona fide beauty expert and makeup artist. She founded Swati Cosmetics with her husband. Her products are 100% vegetarian and are all about empowerment, and they’re available through lots of big outlets like Sephora!

For this food adventure, we headed to Bombay Borough Restaurant, an award-winning spot that sells lots of incredible Indian dishes. But I couldn’t wait to dive into their gold foil biryani, which comes with egg, lamb, and more!

Because Swati is vegetarian, they would put the meat and eggs on the side so she can eat the veg parts of the dish! Inside, we met Hamza and Luke, who greeted us. They have a nice bar and a beautiful terrace with a view.

It was amazing to be in Dubai for the first time since 2006. So much of the city has been built up since then, so being in the city was like a whole new experience!

We started with the Magic Melon, a tropical drink containing orange, musk melon, and coconut nectar. We also tried the Ooty Sunset, which contains pineapple and pine, and the Pink City, which contains guava and blackberries. They’re all non-alcoholic!

The Ooty Sunset was very refreshing and minty. It almost felt like a lemonade. Then, they brought out the Gold Biryani. It is massive and costs 1000 AED, or about $270 USD! They put edible gold foil on all the meat!

On the side, we had nihari, zaatar raita with pomegranate, badami, and is drizzled with pure Desi ghee. The biryani came topped with lamb chops, Kashmiri seekh kebabs, Madras chicken, a veg coconut curry, potatoes, and a bundle containing sticky rice inside a banana leaf.

The lamb chop was so delicious and smoky.I loved the rice with the pomegranate and cashews. The rice was so moist and tasty. I loved it! The chicken was also incredibly flavorful. The gold foil didn’t add much in the way of flavor, but it looked really cool!

It was an amazing biryani. I added some of the badami to the rice, which wasn’t too spicy, but it looked very spicy! Then, we tried some Naga chilies covered in gold foil. I ate the whole thing, while Swati took a nibble. It had my entire mouth on fire!

The white rice with the badami and pomegranate seeds was unreal, as was the chicken with malai. As we ate, we talked about the benefits of intermittent fasting, which is how I stay fit!

I loved the nihari mixed with the rice and the chilies. I live the spice, but it made my head sweat! I needed some raita mixed with the rice to cool down my mouth!

Next was the coconut curry, which took me right back to Kerala! It was so flavorful and rich. Then, after that, I headed back into the kitchen to watch them prepare the Kashmiri lamb seekh kebabs, and naan. It’s the most popular dish on their menu!

It was incredible with the creamy walnut chutney. The dish was so juicy and the chutney contained cucumber and almost reminded me of tzatziki. Next, they made chili cheese kulcha naan.

Back at our table, they brought us some Amritsari kulfi. It contained falooda and rabri and was steaming from dry ice. It was sweet, decadent, and icy. It’s denser than ice cream because it isn’t whipped.

Then, we finished with chicken golgappa, which I’d never had before! It was crunchy, juicy, and flavorful from the pomegranate, mint chutney, and tamarind chutney. What an insane meal!
