Experiencing luxurious haircuts around the world has become one of my favorite pastimes when I travel. I’ve done it in India, Pakistan, Armenia, Trinadad, Oman, Nicaragua, and others, and I couldn’t wait to get one in Iran! Come with me on my Irani haircut experience in Tehran, Iran!
Each haircut experience I’ve had while traveling has been completely different. The haircuts are more or less the same, but some also include head massages, body massages, facials, waxings, or hair washings, or a combination of them.

My friend Hamid, a.k.a. Mr. Taster, my guide Ali, and I headed to Master Cut in Tehran so I could get a full shave. The barber shop was really luxurious.
First, the barber quickly patted my ears with a flaming tool to burn all the hairs off my ears! It smelled like burned hair! Then, he added shaving cream to the top of my head.
He used the blade nice and slow. He was nice and thorough. I loved the feeling of the metal blade against my scalp. After he finished, he added more shaving cream and used the blade to give me a closer shave! Then, he applied alcohol to the my scalp!
Then, I asked for a full shave. He took clippers to get my beard, mustache, sideburns, and neck. He followed that by applying hot wax to my ears and nostrils. Those hairs grow faster as you get older!
Taking the wax off my ears hurt a lot! But I felt clean! Then, they applied wax to my nose to get the blackheads. While it dried, they pulled the wax from my nostrils.
Next, he washed and massaged my scalp, which felt amazing. Then, he also massaged my shoulders, which felt incredible. It was great!
Then, he added aftershave to my head. It tingled but I felt so good! I loved it. What an amazing experience!
