As my time in Isfahan, Iran slowly wound to a close, I headed out on one last adventure before we hit the road to our next Persian destination. Come with me as we try an insane Iranian porridge, go on a tour of a local bazaar, and see some carpet makers!

My friends Ali and Mr. Taster and I started at the 33-arch bridge of Ishfahan in the city. They only get an average of 20 days of water in the river per year, so I was happy to be there for one of those days!

The people actually go into the water, but it moves fast. There’s only 300 meters where you can walk, but I suggest being careful. It’s easy to slip!

You can cross the bridge, and you can also visit the colonnaded walkways below the bridge, where you can get great views despite the sun being in your face. Mr. Taster got mobbed, as he’s a celebrity in Iran!

Then, we headed to the spot to try some Isfahani porridge. It looks very milky and creamy. They then top it with a syrup made from figs, dates, and grapes! It looks almost like honey. Then, the owner fed us some bamieh, which is a sweet tube of dough soaked in saffron and rose water syrup. They’re basically like Persian donuts!

Next, it was time to try the porridge! It was cold and refreshing, and easily the best porridge I’ve ever had! I loved how fluffy it was!

After Mr. Taster took some selfies with fans, we headed down Friendship Alley, which is so tight, people would always bump into each other. We headed to the main square near the Grand Bazaar and Grand Mosque. There were prayers in service as the sun went down. It was so gorgeous and peaceful!

From there, we headed to the copper bazaar, a covered market where they sell lots of things made from copper! I could see plates, cups, bowls, lamps, bracelets, animal sculptures, shields, maces, and more. There were also vendors making their crafts right there!

I loved the falcons and peacocks! Then, we headed to the Persian carpet workshop, Carpet LoverClub! The people were so friendly!

There were carpets everywhere, in many different sizes, colors, and designs. They unfurled out a large one that was a replica of a 17th-century carpet found in the Metropolitan Museum. I loved the colors! They reproduce and recolor the carpets!

We saw another silk carpet that featured a fishtail design and flowers. It’s also a recreation of a 17th century carpet. The pattern repeats. It’s gorgeous!

Next was a bright one with lots of yellow and blue. The blue comes from indigo, and the red comes from pomegranate skins and other materials! Then, they showed us a 100-year-old carpet from a Persian tribe. Another carpet combined silk and precious stones. It was small, but it took 2.5 years to make it, and it costs $300,000!

The most expensive carpet in their collection is on display in Shanghai Tower and costs $3.5 million! They also showed me a carpet with lots of indigo and reds. It costs about $21,000 and takes a year to produce it. I loved the indigo. It’s my favorite!

Their least expensive carpets start at $200, so if you have the money, stop in and buy one!

Where have you been?
