As my time in Placencia, Belize continued, I headed out to get some breakfast and learn how Mayan chocolate is made with my friend at Taste Belize!

DE’TACH: Here, I tried a Belizean breakfast, fry jacks! Mine was stuffed with scrambled eggs, refried beans, ham, and bacon. We also had traditional non-stuffed fry jacks and Johnny cakes.
MAYAN VILLAGE: At this Mayan village, they have over 3000 trees on a 10-acre plot. Belize grows some of the best cacao in the world!
CHE’IL MAYAN CHOCOLATE FACTORY: At this local chocolate factory, I learned how to grind cacao nibs into a chocolate paste, make chocolate bars, and even tried a cocoa drink and a “chocolate martini!”
SOUTHERN HIGHWAY SNACKS & CAFÉ: Here, I had an amazing chicken tamale with some habanero salsa. It was inexpensive but flavorful and made for a great snack
