The Magna Carta for Kids British History

The Magna Carta, signed in 1215 in England, was one of the first documents to limit the power of a king. Angry barons forced King John to agree to its rules after he raised taxes and ignored their rights. The Magna Carta said that everyone—including the king—had to follow the law. It also protected the rights of citizens and influenced future governments, including the United States Constitution.
