The Carbon True Foam Barrage is here, and in this review I break down how it plays, how it compares to the Carbon Genesis and Carbon Waves, and whether this new foam core pickleball paddle is actually worth the premium price.

Carbon says the Barrage is a step forward in its true foam paddle lineup, and after playing with it, that claim makes sense. This paddle uses Carbon’s 100% floating foam core design with no traditional honeycomb, aiming to deliver durability, consistency, touch, and a more connected feel. But what really separates the Carbon Barrage from the earlier Genesis and Waves is its tuning for more instant pop and energy return, giving it a faster, more aggressive response without completely sacrificing control.

In this video, I go over the core construction, the changes from the previous true foam models, and my real on-court impressions. If you’ve been curious about foam paddles, floating core technology, or whether the Carbon True Foam Barrage is the best option in Carbon’s lineup, this review should help.

From my experience, the Barrage feels like the best balance of the three Carbon true foam paddles so far. It has quicker speed-ups, strong performance in hand battles at the kitchen, a generous sweet spot, and enough control to trust your drives, punches, and touch shots. It is not the hottest foam paddle on the market, but that may actually be a good thing for players who want a more complete all-court paddle instead of raw, uncontrollable power.

That said, the biggest question is value. At $280, the Barrage sits in a crowded premium paddle category, and there are other very good foam paddles out there. So the big question becomes: does the Carbon Barrage do enough to justify the price?
