In this series we trace the clash of ancient Greece and Persia with a history of Second Greco Persian war. This begins with the onset of the Persian invasion as King Xerxes marched his army across the Hellespont in 480 BC. His forces soon overran northern Greece as the southern alliance attempted to stall the advance. We cover the unfolding defensive action at Thermopylae, Artemisium, the city of Athens and Salamis. At the conclusion of this campaign the Greeks would summon a massive army for an ultimate showdown at the Battle of Plataea.
