Over a 3-month investigation, cybersecurity firm Nisos uncovered a network of North Korean operatives applying to hundreds of thousands of U.S. tech jobs. One operative who applied to Nisos was monitored via a company laptop, revealing how the scheme funneled paychecks back to North Korea, often using Chinese infrastructure to aid operations.
