Cyprus Says UK Not Doing Enough to Protect It From Iranian Attacks

Cyprus is raising concerns about its security after a drone strike targeted a British military base on the island. The Cypriot High Commissioner to the United Kingdom says people in Cyprus are disappointed with the British government’s response.

“Let’s say the people are disappointed, the people are scared, the people could expect more,” Ambassador Kyriacos Kouros told the BBC.

A drone struck the UK’s RAF Akrotiri base on the Mediterranean island on March 2 amid escalating tensions linked to the conflict involving Iran.

“The British people have to understand that the British bases in Cyprus cannot be seen separate from the whole of the island,” Kouros told Sky News on March 4. “There are Cypriots living in the British bases.”
