Child Psychiatrist Testifies in Social Media Addiction Trial

March 4 marked the fourth day on the stand for Dr. Kara Bagot, a child and adolescent psychiatrist, who testified in the landmark social media addiction trial in Los Angeles.

Dr. Bagot told jurors that social media addiction among young people is real and growing. She says she has spent nearly 20 years studying adolescent addiction and has treated hundreds, possibly even thousands of young patients struggling with excessive social media use.

But during cross-examination, defense attorneys pointed to family issues they say may have contributed to the plaintiff’s mental health struggles.
