Let's Read the News | Learn Advanced Vocabulary & Grammar
In this B2–C1 English lesson, we build vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation using a news article from The Week magazine about the origin of domestic cats.
We’ll begin with a 14-word vocabulary quiz to prepare you for the reading. Then, I'll read the article aloud in five parts, pausing after each section to check basic comprehension and help you follow the ideas with confidence.
In the second half of the lesson, we focus on prepositional phrases, using real examples from the article. You’ll learn about the general order of prepositional phrases in English and test your understanding with guided questions.
Finally, I suggest practical follow-up activities so you can continue building your speaking and writing skills on your own.
This lesson is ideal for high-intermediate and low-advanced English learners (B2–C1) who want to:
• expand their passive & active vocabulary
• strengthen grammar in context
• improve pronunciation through oral reading
