In the southern city of Szeged, visitors are coming face to face with one of the world’s most extraordinary legacies — the Terracotta Army. The exhibition, hosted at the Móra Ferenc Museum, showcases over 50 life-sized warrior replicas made from the same clay as the originals, alongside rare artifacts from China’s Han Dynasty. “The goal is to bring Chinese culture closer to the Hungarian public,” says curator Dr. Szabolcs Felföldi. “There is little awareness about China’s history and culture in this region of Hungary.” The display not only celebrates ancient craftsmanship but also traces the evolution of global exchange — from the Silk Road that connected Asia and Europe over 2,000 years ago to today’s Belt and Road Initiative, which marks its 10th anniversary.
