Major Medical Society Announces Opposition to Pediatric Transgender Surgeries
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons announced its opposition on Feb. 3 to carrying out breast removal and similar surgeries on patients under 19 years of age. The announcement comes on the heels of a first-of-its-kind jury verdict against medical professionals, which awarded a young woman $1.6 million for pain and suffering, as well as $400,000 for future medical expenses. The landmark New York verdict held a surgeon and psychologist liable for malpractice. The pair had facilitated a double mastectomy for then-16-year-old Fox Varian, a young woman with gender dysphoria.
NTD spoke to Colin Wright, editor-in-chief of “Reality’s Last Stand,” and Dr. Jared Ross, a senior fellow with “Do No Harm,” about the significance of the developments.
