Mona Lane, designed by Harley Graham Architects, with interiors by Louise Walsh, is a concrete home that seems to disappear amidst the stunning coastal landscape of North River New South Wales.

When the owners of Mona Lane moved to the expensive Brunswick Heads landscape from the countryside, they approached Harley Graham and his team to design a bespoke permanent home that would facilitate a sense of living higher outside.
Comprising three large residential units designed to merge into a central home, Mona Lane is an impressive, large concrete house designed to offer residents panoramic views of the picturesque coastal landscape of the North River Region of New South Wales.

The architectural intent of Harley Graham and his team focused on making this massive monolithic concrete structure disappear. In doing so, the design team used dark wood cladding covering the floor slabs within vegetation, thus concealing much of the house and providing comfort to the interior spaces, which also feature polished concrete throughout.
The clients requested a muted, monochromatic color palette for the interior to complement the dominant concrete texture of the exterior. To fit the concise overall design vision of providing upscale living outdoors, interior designer Louise Walsh and her team created a tranquil interior built upon the strong architecture and uniquely integrated with the stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
With the enormous amount of concrete required for the overall design and construction on Mona Lane, Geostone Australia worked intensively with the design team to provide a robust structural material only available in precision concrete finishes.
