The Girl Builds a Bamboo Fish Trap in the Stream | A Girl Alone Surviving In The Forest - Part 67

Episode 67 Summary: Between Fear and Hope

A journey of survival on the fragile boundary between fear and hope.

Episode 67 begins with a breathless moment. Stepping deep into a dark cave, I was stunned to find myself standing before a wild wolf pack. It seems they had just feasted after a hunt and were deep in sleep, completely off guard. With my heart pounding, I moved softly, step by step, holding my breath to run as fast as I could out of the "tiger's den".

Escaping the cave, I faced a gnawing hunger. Walking across the vast grassy hills, I found bushes of deep purple rose myrtles. But nature is sometimes ironic; the sweetness of the berries only deceives the taste buds at first. Eating a few is fine, but consuming many to fill an empty stomach only leaves it feeling raw and cramped.

I lay sprawled on the grass, gazing up at the beautiful clear blue sky. But even a merciful blue sky cannot provide me with food. Beside me, the tiger cub and the baby bird skipped and hopped around. Their eyes are innocent yet hold a trace of exhaustion; they are as hungry as I am, while food remains elusive in the vast, ancient forest.

Refusing to give up, I walked down to the small stream near my newly built earthen house. I decided to undertake an important survival project: making a fish trap from stones and bamboo. First, I collected large river stones, patiently stacking them into a sturdy wall to block the water, leaving only a single flow. Next, I cut old bamboo stalks, split them into thin strips, and wove an intricate fish trap, utilizing the natural pressure of the current.

The unique feature of this trap is its compassion: besides the entrance, I designed a secret exit. If I do not need the fish, they can freely swim back to the vast "mother stream". After a busy day, by the time the trap was finished, my body was utterly exhausted. With an empty stomach and heavy footsteps along the stream, I, along with the tiger cub and the baby bird, continued our journey. It seems a true hunt deep in the forest awaits us ahead.
