H.M. Queen Mary, in collaboration with the Royal Danish Collection, has decided to have a new mounting created for parts of the rose-cut diamond set—one of the four iconic jewelry sets among the Danish Crown Jewels—so that in the future the beautiful rose-cut diamonds can be worn as a tiara. In doing so, Queen Mary continues the proud tradition of earlier queens of adapting the Crown Jewels to the fashion and use of their time—naturally with respect for history and the exquisite craftsmanship that characterizes the Danish Crown Jewels. This ensures that the rose-cut set can be worn to a much greater extent at royal occasions, which was precisely the original intention when the Danish Crown Jewels were established through the will of Queen Dowager Sophie Magdalene in 1746.
