In this video, I explore a question that comes up again and again in the ballet world: Did ballet used to be better in terms of artistry?

We’re looking closely at performances by Maya Plisetskaya and Maris Liepa and comparing them with Ekaterina Maximova and Vladimir Vasiliev....two legendary partnerships from the same era, yet with very different qualities, energy and artistic choices.

This is not about ranking dancers or saying one generation was “better” than the other. It’s about understanding how ballet has evolved and changed over time. And about highlighting the importance of artistry when it comes to this beautiful art form.
