Explore Taiwan’s President Chiang Kai-shek's Ancestral Home in Zhejiang, Mainland China-chinatravel
Jan 5, 2026
From a solitary grave on a Zhejiang hillside to the river town that shaped a president—this 20-minute field documentary walks through Chiang Kai-shek’s ancestral home in Xikou. We visit the Yutai Salt Shop where his childhood hardened, Bao Bentang and the “Filial Son Stair,” the Chiang Family Ancestral Hall, Wuling Gate & Middle School, the Wenchang Pavilion and the Little Western-style House with the “Wash Blood with Blood” stone, and finally his mother’s tomb on Baiyan Mountain. Along the way we ask: how did family codes, martial schooling, marriage, and faith forge the man who would lead the ROC across two shores?
