I Forged the Best Axe in the World | One-Piece Hand Forged
One day, while thinking about which axe to forge next, I realized that I didn’t have the very model I have been forging and refining for several years. It is an axe with a high eye, inspired by Finnish axes. However, unlike its predecessors, this model is fully hand-forged rather than welded or cast. I consider this axe to be one of the best in the world that can be found in modern production - and overall.
Looking back a few years, when I was only trying to make something similar to a Billnäs axe, those early versions were merely rough interpretations of high-eye axes - plain and somewhat clumsy. With each passing year, I worked to improve them, changing many parameters: the weight of the billet, the size of the punches, the punching methods, the steel used for punching, the diameters of the drifts, the wall thickness, and much more. In the end, iteration after iteration, I kept adding new elements until I reached a level of perfection to which there is nothing left to add - except, perhaps, a bit of color.
