Nevada’s Copper Mystery Mine: Where Did the Rock Go?

Nevada’s Copper Mystery Mine: Where Did the Rock Go?

2 Video Views·Dec 16, 2025  #DesertTrails #MineralCountyNevada #AbandonedMine

In the remote hills of Mineral County, Nevada, I hiked into an abandoned copper mine that doesn’t make sense. The tunnels underground are massive, but the waste rock pile outside is surprisingly small. So, where did all that rock end up?

Come along with me as I follow the old road, walk across the waste dump, and step into the shadows of this forgotten copper mine. We’ll check out the portals, tailings, and scattered relics to figure out how the mine worked and why what’s on the surface doesn’t match what’s underground.

I don’t share exact locations or directions to help protect these historic sites and keep everyone safe. Abandoned mines are hazardous due to poor air quality, hidden shafts, loose rock, and unstable timbers. Never enter an abandoned mine unless you have the appropriate training, equipment, and authorization.

If you like these quiet, first-person explorations and want to see more of Nevada’s forgotten camps and mines, let me know in the comments and hit subscribe so you don’t miss the next trip into the desert.
