Healthy adult bison don't have anything to fear from wolves and even baby bison can usually out run them but newborns are a different story. The first couple of hours of a baby bison's life are the most crucial when it comes to withstanding a wolf attack. Of course the wolves have to survive as well so it is Nature taking its course.
