Another side of Kyoto|Autumn Hidden Gems|Mt. Hiei & Former Chikurin-in Temple|Japan Travel Vlog
Join us on a peaceful autumn getaway to Mt. Hiei and Former Chikurin-in Temple, two hidden gems in the outskirts of Kyoto filled with Zen tranquility and breathtaking fall colors.
Surrounded by vibrant red maple trees, we wandered through quiet temples and traditional gardens, soaking in the gentle beauty of Japan’s autumn season.
Back in Kyoto city, we stopped by the famous Katsukura Tonkatsu — a beloved restaurant known for its perfectly crispy pork cutlets served with shredded cabbage and warm miso soup. It was the perfect way to end our autumn day trip.
The autumn foliage on Mt. Hiei may not be as crowded as Kyoto’s city temples, but that’s exactly what makes it special — serene, soulful, and deeply beautiful.
If you love slow travel, peaceful views, and local food experiences, this journey is one you’ll want to save for your next trip to Japan 🍁
