Construction: Began on December 28, 2004, and completed in March 2013.
Height: The Buddha statue itself is 48 meters tall, representing the 48 great vows of Amitabha Buddha. The total height, reaching the top of the flame canopy, is 81 meters, symbolizing perseverance through 9,981 hardships on the path to enlightenment.
Design: The welcoming image draws inspiration from the Vairocana Buddha at the Longmen Grottoes and the Dunhuang Buddhas, expressing both fatherly compassion and motherly love.

Built with pure religious intent, the Donglin Buddha provides a sacred focus for worship, meditation, and visualization for followers of the Pure Land Method.
