Spleen | lucaespo 𝄞 ♫ ♪ 🎸


When, like a lid, the sky weighs heavily
On the groaning soul in the grip of long troubles,
And in a single circle, tightening the horizon
Pour out a black day sadder than the nights;

When the earth changes into a humid cell,
Into which Hope goes, like a bat,
Flapping her timid wing against the walls
And banging her head on the sodden ceiling;

When the rain spreads its immense streaks
Imitating the bars of a vast prison,
And, silent and repugnant, a people of spiders
Spreads their nets inside our brains;

Some bells suddenly explode with fury
Sending a frightening cry to the sky,
That makes one think of wandering and countryless spirits
That begin to moan obstinately.

...And long funerals, without drums or music,
File slowly through the heart; Hope,
Defeated, cries, and Anguish, despotic and atrocious,
Pins her black flag on my skull...
