The new 623-foot ship "Musala" arrived from Lake Superior and passed under the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth, MN.

Many people have been waiting for this ship to pick up its anchor and head into Duluth. The ship was built in 2023, so it's super new and very impressive looking! This was the first time I saw this ship and I couldn't believe how high up out of the water it was as it approached the Aerial Lift Bridge. The white paint on the superstructure was extremely bright and fresh too. Obviously, there were a few scrapes along the haul as it went through the Soo Locks and other places on its way to Duluth.

Besides this ship being new and really tall, the captain blasted a Master Salute with the horn as it arrived in the Duluth ship canal. The three huge yellow deck cranes were very impressive as well.

There was worry that this ship would be stuck because of the labor strike preventing vessel traffic from moving on the St. Lawrance Seaway, but a tentative agreement was reached today meaning this ship will be able to make it back out to the ocean with its cargo. Here's more information about the tentative deal allowing this ship and others to move again.
