Scientists JUST Found Europe's Oldest Human DNA!
Oct 18, 2025
It is rare to find direct genomic windows into the lives of people who walked the earth tens of millennia ago, but new research has done exactly that with ancient DNA. Scientists have sequenced the oldest high-coverage modern human genomes ever recovered from Europe, individuals who lived nearly 50,000 years ago at sites in Ranis in Germany and Zlaty Kun in Czechia, pushing back the timeline of early humans on the continent. These people were among the very first homo sapiens to push deep into prehistoric Europe.
