Teetied – The Tea Ceremony in East Frisia (UNESCO Cultural Heritage)
2 Video Views·Oct 18, 2025
Tea time is an integral part of East Frisian conviviality. Grandma Helga explains how it's done and why: Tea, Kluntje, Rohm, and Wulkje, and above all, don't stir!
East Frisians are known for their enjoyment of tea. It's so deeply rooted in their culture that the East Frisian tea ceremony has even been listed as an intangible cultural asset by UNESCO since 2016.
Tea time is an integral part of a day trip in the northern German region. The drink is usually East Frisian tea, which is made in East Frisia from various black teas (especially Assam tea) as a ""genuine East Frisian blend"" and is preferably served from ""Dresmer Teegood,"" the rose-decorated porcelain typical of the region.
