6 Days of Hiking, Fishing & Camping in Wyoming's Remote Mountains
I backpacked alone in the Wind River Range, Wyoming in early July 2025. I started at Scab creek trailhead and did an off trail section to connect the stunning East and Middle fork valleys, then did a detour to Lake Solitude for some epic fishing.

🗺️ About the route:
I created this 56 mile loop that starts at Scab Creek and goes up East Fork Valley and Down Middle Fork. The route does involve off trail travel through talus terrains.
After leaving Middle Fork I did a short out and back to Lake Solitude. The fishing on this side of the divide is amazing, but keep in mind it's on the Wind River reservation and you need to buy a fishing license before you go, whether you're fishing or not. The license is also just for entry into the reservation. You can buy the license in person at the Great Outdoor shop in Pinedale. Also fire restrictions typically start really early in the summer on the reservation.
