Turn your Halloween decor into a jump scare with this laser cut haunted mirror that hides a zombie until you flip on the lights. In this step-by-step build we UV print both the mirror face and the zombie on the same side of clear acrylic, then backlight it so the image appears only when illuminated. We cut a chunky MDF frame for durability, add woodgrain and aging with Foxy Hues paints, and finish it with LED strip lights and quick-set adhesive. Perfect for craft shows, porch scares, or your next haunted hallway.

What you will learn
• How to UV print a hidden image on acrylic for a backlit reveal
• Correct print order color then white for the mirror face then color plus white for the zombie
• Why two layers of white on the mirror block the hidden image with lights off
• Laser settings and registration tips for perfect cut alignment
• Fast woodgrain finish and Halloween aging techniques
• Clean assembly with LED strip lights and spacers

Materials and gear
• 1/4 in MDF backer and frame
• 1/8 in clear acrylic panel from Houston Acrylic

Helpful notes
• Mirror and zombie are printed mirrored and on the same side of the acrylic.
• Use two passes of white behind the mirror so the zombie stays invisible when the lights are off.
• Add an 1/8 in spacer in the frame to accommodate acrylic thickness and LED channel.
• A reflective inner backer boosts brightness toward the front.
